Associate & Second Shooter

Hi there! i'm Lauren!

I am the founder and lead photographer of Taylor'd Southern Events. I have been a wedding photographer since 2012. I got my masters in Business and started a career in Accounting & Auditing. The analytical side of me loves numbers but the creative side loves photography so much more! I quit my corporate career in 2016 and went full time with weddings. Since then I have relocated from Florida to Los Angeles and then to DC for my husbands job. I am newer to the DC metro area and looking to grow my portfolio with venues local to the DMV. I have worked as a lead shooter for hundreds of weddings as well as associate and second shoot for others. I am comfortable with all parts of the wedding day but my passion is in the details and couple portraits.

My Gear

Below is a list of my gear I use on wedding days. I am proficient with all types of lighting on a wedding day but my preferred choice is  natural light. I shoot most of the day with natural light as long as it is available and then I shoot with on and off camera flash during the reception. I upgraded all of my equipment in October of 2021. I shoot on mirrorless, full frame cameras with two card slots.

• Canon R6 - (Two Bodies)
• Canon RF 28-70 2.0
• Canon RF 70 - 200 2.8
• Canon RF 85 1.2
• Canon EF 100 2.8

• Godox V860II (Three)
• Magmod Flash Kit
• Tripods
• Light Stands
• Holdfast Money Maker
• Spider Holster

I live in Anne Arundel county in Maryland, in Odenton a few miles from Fort Meade. I work weddings all over the DMV metro area.

I charge $75 per hour for second shooting and $125 per hour for associate shooting. I require a minimum of $500 for a wedding day.

I always wear a flowy maxi dress, similar to what a wedding guest would wear to a wedding. If you prefer something different, please let me know!

My husbands job requires us to relocate every few years so I am constantly rebranding myself to a new market I have never been in before and having to build my business from scratch. We also have a 1 year old so I do not have much time these days to sit behind a computer screen and manage a bunch of my own clients. I love the freedom and flexibility of shooting weddings for others and then getting to go home and have no editing to do! It allows me to be a stay at home mom during the week and a full time wedding photographer on the weekends.

Absolutely! There is nothing more important than being professional, reliable, and on time! Photographers drive me crazy when they are flaky or run late on wedding days. If I commit to a wedding then I will absolutely follow through and arrive early on the wedding day.

On wedding days I am professional but also fun and outgoing. I have never met a stranger and I make friends with everyone. I know my place and I understand when I should stay in the shadows during certain times of the day and when the time allows to be more interactive and outgoing. Customer service is always a priority for me and I love giving every client an incredible experience. I am easy going and love to have fun!
