She remembers it like it was yesterday. 

She got to class a few minutes early and spotted him across the room. He had dark hair and glasses, and he was completely engrossed in the book on his lap. 

Abbie and Tom may have started off as classmates in their sophomore English class, but it didn’t take long before they became acquaintances, then friends, then attached at the hip. They were both majoring in literature with plans to teach when they graduated. Tom wanted to teach ESL, and Abbie wanted to work in the high school in her hometown. 

Over the next two years, they not only took multiple classes together—they even studied abroad together during the final months of their senior year. 

As if their story couldn’t be any cuter than it already was, this is where it got even better. 

As they were wrapping up their final week at an exchange school in Italy, Tom took Abbie out for a fancy dinner—and asked if she would be his wife.

We also secretly hope the book Tom was reading when you guys first met was written by Nicholas Sparks, because it sounds like Tom took a few pointers from him when it came time to propose!
