You planned a beach wedding.

You imagined the Gulf behind you, your guests gathered along the shoreline, and soft evening light surrounding you as you said your vows.

Then the weather forecast shows rain.

I understand why couples worry about this.

But Florida coastal weather is constantly changing—and a rainy forecast does not automatically mean your wedding day or photographs are ruined.

Florida Weather Can Change Quickly

If you’ve spent any amount of time along Florida’s coast, you already know how quickly the weather can change.

A forecast can show rain throughout the day while the actual weather includes short passing showers and long stretches of beautiful conditions.

This is why I don’t recommend allowing a forecast several days before your wedding to completely change your plans.

As your wedding day gets closer, we can make thoughtful decisions based on the actual conditions we’re experiencing.

Build Flexibility Into Your Photography Timeline

One of the reasons I create a customized photography timeline for my couples is flexibility.

If rain is approaching during the original portrait time, we may choose to photograph outside earlier.

If a storm passes through, we may step outside as soon as the weather clears.

If the evening sky suddenly becomes beautiful, I’m paying attention.

Wedding photography requires the ability to adapt.

The goal isn’t to force your wedding day into a rigid photography schedule.

It’s to create a thoughtful plan and know when to adjust it.

Have a Ceremony Rain Plan

If you’re planning an outdoor ceremony, decide on your backup option before the wedding day.

This may be a covered deck, tent, indoor space, or alternate ceremony setup.

Having a rain plan doesn’t mean you’re expecting bad weather.

It simply gives you options.

Cloudy Skies Can Be Beautiful for Wedding Photography

Couples often assume bright sunshine creates the best photographs.

That isn’t always true.

Soft cloud cover can create beautifully even light.

Coastal storms can also bring movement, texture, and depth into the sky.

I’ve photographed Florida weddings through fog, changing weather, and unpredictable coastal conditions.

Every wedding day looks different.

My approach is to photograph the beauty that actually exists rather than trying to make every wedding gallery look exactly the same.

Your Wedding Is More Than the Forecast

The weather is one part of your wedding day.

It is not your wedding story.

Your parents seeing you dressed for the first time.

The way your partner looks at you during the ceremony.

Your closest friends laughing together.

Your family gathered in one place.

Those moments don’t disappear because clouds move in.
